Organize Your Listings
Listing Categories help organize your directory listings by industry or type. These categories are available under
Job Listings > Categories in your WordPress admin area.
Listing Categories are the primary way to organize your listings in Listify. Unlike Listing Types, categories are enabled by default and offer a simple hierarchical structure to group and filter listings.
For example, in the demo content, you’ll find categories such as:
- Arts & Entertainment
- Bars
- Lodging
- Food
- Health
You can create both main categories and subcategories. Subcategories allow for even more refined filtering. For instance:
- Food
- Restaurants
- Takeout
- Food Trucks
How to Add Listing Categories
- From your WordPress dashboard, go to Job Manager option > Categories.
- Fill in the category name, slug (optional), and description (optional).
- If you’re creating a subcategory, select a parent category from the dropdown.
- Click Add new listing category to save it.
Once created, you can assign categories to your listings during the listing creation or editing process. This allows users to browse or filter listings by specific categories across your site.
