Creating a Menu

If you do not have a menu created yet, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Appearance > Menus in your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Click the “Create a new menu” link.
  3. Give your menu a name and click the “Save Menu” button.
  4. Under Menu Settings, assign the menu to the Primary Menu location.

Adding Items

Once your menu is created, you can begin adding items to it:

  1. On the left panel, select items to add—such as Pages, Posts, Custom Links, or Categories.
  2. If you’re using custom post types or taxonomies and don’t see them listed, click Screen Options at the top of the page and ensure the boxes are checked.
  3. After adding items, drag and drop them to reorder as desired.
  4. To create submenus (nested items), drag a menu item slightly to the right under another item. This creates a hierarchy.
  5. Click on a menu item to configure its Navigation Label and additional options.
  • You can create multiple custom menus.
  • If your theme supports multiple menu locations, assign different menus accordingly.
  • You may also use custom menus inside widget areas using the Custom Menu widget.
